After serving as an urban missionary in Oakland, California with our Mission Year program, Jaime Taylor committed to stay in the community where she served and eventually founded Urban Mentors Network.
Over the past two years we have used your gifts to support Jaime and the network of 25 volunteers she recruited and trained, to tutor and spiritually mentor 130 young girls, teens and young women from inner-city Oakland.
It costs $7,000 per month ($54 per child, teen or young adult) to host weekly and bi-weekly one-on-one and small group mentoring sessions, which include Bible study, homework assistance, activities to build self-esteem and improve social and decision-making skills, and other life-building experiences.
This year we committed to strengthening Urban Mentors Network’s existing mentoring program, and to help them expand their ministry to include boys and male teens and young adults from Oakland.
Your support is critical to giving Jaime and her corps of volunteers the resources they need to invest in and sustain their relationships with all the Oakland youth they love and serve in Jesus’ name.
